Sunglasses or sunglasses (informally called shades or sunnies; More names below) is a form of protective eyewear designed primarily to protect the eye from bright sunlight and high-energy visible light that can injure or discomfort the eye. They can also sometimes serve as a visual aid, just as various eyeglasses or eyeglasses exist that feature colored, polarized, or dark lenses. In the early 20th century, they were also known as sun cheaters (American slang for glasses at the time)
Sunglasses have been a popular fashion accessory since the 1930s, especially on the beach.
The American Optometric Association recommends wearing UV-blocking sunglasses when in the sun to protect your eyes from both uv and blue light. Ultraviolet and blue light can cause some serious eye problems. It is mandatory to use it immediately after LASIK surgery, and recommended to use it in dusty areas when leaving home or in front of a TV screen or computer monitor for a certain period of time after LASIK surgery. It’s important to note that sunglasses that don’t block uv radiation may be more harmful to your eyes than not wearing eye protection at all, because sunglasses tend to open the pupils and let more UV light into your eyes.
