Can the Frames and Lenses Change Color Together?
Yes, the frames and lenses can change color together. Buyers can also specify a regular frame with photochromic lenses or a UV-responsive frame with regular lenses.
The frame response comes from a surface coating applied to a PC or CP frame. Ultraviolet light and sunlight activate the frame coating. You can customize regular frame colors. The approved sample and engineering review control the final result. Frame-transition products have already entered mass production.
Three component architectures are available:
- A color-changing frame with color-changing lenses creates a coordinated transition.
- A regular frame with photochromic lenses keeps the frame color stable.
- A photochromic frame with regular lenses makes the frame the active element.
- PC / CP framesurface-coating route
- Mass productionalready completed
- 1-year warrantycoating warranty under stated terms
The coating warranty applies for one year under normal storage and use. The quotation or warranty terms define the applicable exclusions. Bulk approval remains tied to the approved construction, color, and sample.

Lens material and transition
For PC and Tritan, the grey component deepens the selected base tint instead of replacing it with a neutral-grey lens.
- PC and Tritan: a grey-darkening effect is added over the selected base tint. For example, light green becomes a deeper green; it does not mean the lens changes to a neutral grey color.
- CR-39: CR-39 can produce grey, brown, blue, pink, other regular colors, and gradient effects.
- Polarized photochromic: supported with the current grey-darkening route; approve the final base-tint combination by finished sample.

Tested Sample Example
These results apply to one tested PC photochromic lens sample. A gradient describes the tint distribution across a lens; it does not by itself indicate a gradient photochromic response. The figures above report light transmission and response times, not changes in the gradient pattern. Results are sample-specific, not universal production specifications.
Example recorded condition for this sample:approximately 23°C · illuminance 50,000 ± 5,000 lux · exposure 15 min ± 5 s. The applicable method and additional temperature testing must be confirmed for the project.

Category FAQs
Photochromic
Sunglasses FAQs
Clear answers to common questions about MOQ, sampling, lens performance, customization, lead time, and international shipping for custom photochromic sunglasses projects.
01 What is your MOQ for photochromic sunglasses?
- Selected ready-stock private label: may start from 50 pieces.
- Standard custom production: typically from 300 pieces per style/color.
- 3D-printed development: from 1 piece for prototype evaluation, not bulk production.
02 How long does photochromic sampling take?
Typical sampling references are 3–5 days for a stock-style sample, 7–10 days for an existing mold with custom options, and 20–40 days for new-tooling development. Final timing depends on the confirmed specifications and approval requirements.
03 What lens materials are available?
Available lens materials include PC, Tritan, and CR-39, with selected polarized photochromic options. PC and Tritan add a grey-darkening effect over the selected base tint—for example, light green becomes deeper green rather than changing to neutral grey. Current polarized photochromic options use the same grey-darkening approach. CR-39 supports broader colored and gradient effects. Final colors and combinations are confirmed by sample.
04 How fast do the lenses darken and fade?
Darkening and fading response varies with lens material, photochromic configuration, UV intensity, temperature, and test method. Performance should be evaluated using the confirmed sample under agreed test conditions rather than treated as one fixed time for every product.
05 Can you customize frame color, lens color, and logo?
Yes. Projects can include customized frame design and color, lens material and transition, logo application, packaging, and engineering or tooling. Available combinations remain subject to material compatibility and project feasibility.
06 Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We support international shipment for approved sample and bulk-production projects. A typical bulk-production reference is 40–50 days after sample approval; the final production schedule, shipping method, documentation, and delivery terms are confirmed for each order and destination.
