Handmade glasses process

Handmade glasses process
Handmade glasses are commonly made from acetate, bamboo, wood, and buffalo horn. Each material offers unique properties, allowing for a variety of designs and functionalities.
Below is the production flowchart for acetate glasses. Other handmade glasses process is similar like acetate. Typically, handmade eyewear frames consist of four main components: the frame, temples, lenses, metal core and decorative accents.
Each part goes through its own manufacturing process, which makes producing eyewear more complicated than it seems. Even though glasses are small, the production involves many steps. That’s why, depending on the design and complexity, it usually takes us around 50 to 70 days to complete a glasses .

Main Production Process of Handmade Eyewear
Material cutting
Material cutting involves precisely cutting acetate sheets into sizes suitable for frame and temple production, where accuracy is crucial. Quality checks at this stage ensure that the acetate sheets are cut to the exact specifications, minimizing waste and ensuring consistency.

Heating and Softening
After cutting, the acetate parts are heated to make them soft enough for shaping. Heating must be carefully controlled to ensure pliability without losing strength. Experienced technicians monitor temperature closely to avoid overheating, which could lead to material deformation.
Cut temple and insert the metal core
Cut the temples according to the design, then heat and soften them before inserting a metal core to ensure stability.

Tumbling and Polishing
Frame and temple parts are placed in a barrel machine for tumbling to smooth surfaces. After tumbling, polishing gives acetate frames their glossy finish, revealing their depth and vibrancy. Quality checks during polishing help maintain consistency in the finish across all products.
Lens Cutting
Lenses are cut to fit the shape and size of the eyewear frame. Precision is critical to ensure the lenses fit perfectly with the frame, providing clear vision and comfortable wear.
