Once the collection direction is defined, we translate it into frame, material, lens, color, branding and packaging specifications for sampling.

01 · From Moodboard to Frame

Silhouette & Frame Engineering

Turn an early visual direction into a balanced frame that can be sampled, fitted and reproduced consistently.

  • Refine the front silhouette, lens shape, bridge, rim thickness, base curve and overall visual balance.
  • Develop temple profiles, end tips, hinges and decorative components as part of one design language.
  • Review lens width, bridge width, temple length, wrap, intended fit and wearing stability.
  • Translate sketches and references into 2D drawings and, when required, 3D drawings.
  • Prepare a 3D prototype before tooling for suitable injection-molded projects.
  • Confirm the frame architecture, component interfaces and manufacturing tolerances before sample making.

Development Process

From Design Brief to Bulk Production

A designer sunglasses project moves through four controlled stages: development-route selection, sample making and revision, final specification approval, and bulk production.

Typical Timing Guidance based on project type
  • Existing Styles Sample dispatch Within 3 days
Lens or logo changes 3–7 days
  • Custom Samples Metal or acetate 20–30 days
Injection drawing and prototype 10–20 days
    Tooling after approval 3–5 weeks
  • Bulk Production Metal 50–90 days · Acetate 45–60 days
    Injection 40–50 days

Timelines vary with design complexity, material availability, testing requirements and the number of revisions.

Discuss Your Designer Sunglasses Project
  1. Select the Best Starting Point

    Choose Your Development Route

We choose one of three routes: an existing style, a semi-custom construction, or a fully custom frame. The route depends on the required changes, material, quantity, budget and launch schedule.

    • Existing style
    • Semi-custom
    • Fully custom
  2. Make, Review and Refine

    Sample Making & Revision

We review the sample for fit, structure, dimensions, color and finish. Small changes are updated in the drawing and current sample until the agreed requirements are met. Major design or structural changes may require a new paid sample.

    • Structure
    • Color & finish
  3. Lock the Production Reference

    Final Sample & Specification Approval

Bulk production begins only after the final sample and specifications are approved. Approval covers drawings, dimensions, colors, lenses, logo method and packaging. Injection projects use a 3D prototype to confirm fit, structure and dimensions before tooling. Changes beyond the approved mold structure require new tooling.

    • Approved sample
    • Final specifications
    • QC reference
  4. Produce with Defined Controls

Bulk Production, Quality Control & Delivery

Bulk production follows the approved sample and specifications. We apply the agreed inspection checkpoints, arrange project-specific testing when required, and complete final packing and shipment preparation.

Anonymous Designer Sunglasses Case

From a Rough Sketch to a Refined Sunglasses Sample

An eyewear brand shared an early hand sketch for a fashion frame. We refined the silhouette and structure through several drawing reviews, then corrected a hinge mismatch found during sample making and produced a revised sample for confirmation.

What Changed

From a Heavy Concept to a More Balanced, Producible Sample

We refined the front shape, proportions and structure through several drawing reviews. When the hinge did not match the intended construction during sample making, we revised the structure and produced a new sample for confirmation.

  1. 01

    Clarify the Design Direction

The original front felt visually heavy, so we refined the silhouette and overall proportions.

  2. 02

    Revise the 3D Drawings

The frame structure was adjusted through two to three rounds of 3D drawing revisions.

  3. 03

    Correct the Hinge Structure

A hinge mismatch appeared during sample making, so the construction was revised before approval.

  4. 04

    Remake the Sample

A new sample was produced to confirm the corrected structure and refined frame shape.

This project shows why designer sunglasses development needs more than an attractive sketch. Drawing reviews and physical sampling helped identify a structural issue before bulk production.

Discuss Your Quantity Plan

When We Can Review a Different Starting Quantity

Evaluated project by project

Collection Planning

Multi-Color Collections

When one style uses multiple colors and the combined order exceeds 300 pairs, we may support 200 pairs per style and color or review a more flexible color allocation based on the complete order plan.

Material-Based Support

Titanium Projects

For higher-value titanium frames, we can normally support 200 pairs per style and color, subject to the selected construction, components, finish and production requirements.

First Market Test

Trial & Sample-Based Orders

For a first market test, a smaller quantity may be handled as a sample-based order. An additional material-loss charge may apply when the reduced quantity creates extra production loss.

Final MOQ is confirmed after review. Material availability, style and color allocation, frame construction, components and development requirements all affect the workable starting quantity. Flexible quantities are approved project by project.
